These are the guidelines we have according to the government and below a statement from my local MSP.

  1. 1) Indoor classes are to resume from the 14th September unless stated otherwise
  2. 2) General outdoor classes can have up to 15 participants over 4 households. Please note dance is not listed as one of the activities hence the response from my MSP.
  3. 3) Carefully controlled outdoor youth work activities can have a maximum of 15 children, young people and staff.
  4. 4) Social distancing is still to be followed. Children under the age of 12 do not need to to follow social distancing.
  5. 5) Any Covid- 19 symptoms (shortness of breath, continuous cough, fever, loss of taste/ smell) requires all affected persons in the same household will need to self-isolate (if you have symptoms= 10 days, if you live with someone who has symptoms = 14 days)

MSP Statement

Miriam,

I agree with the advice given by others on kids dance classes outside regarding numbers up to 14 in a class not limited to 4 households provided classes are run sensibly with appropriate guidance followed.

At present the Scottish Government have said from the 14th September classes for children can start again. It will be possible to use church halls and community centres for these activities if the appropriate guidance is followed.

Kind regards

Jeremy

Running Of Classes

We will try and run our classes as ‘normal’ as possible, but given the current climate of things, we will need to do our bit and try and keep everyone as safe as possible. Here is a list of changes for families to be aware of:

  1. We will have our policy up on laminated sheets as a reminder when you arrive to class
  2. Before class starts you will see a GE ‘spots’ queuing system outside the teaching space (whether outdoors, hall or studio) for pupils to queue up ready to go in when class starts. They will be placed 2m apart so family members can stand with them. Hand sanitiser will be available at the front of this queue for each pupil to use before class
  3. Outdoor Classes
For Miss M’s classes there will be rubber non- slip spots on the floor to help with spacing of pupils, especially outside, and for adult classes to aid with social distancing. The area we use for our outdoor classes will be coned off to create a dance space and help with transitioning between classes. Pupils will enter on one side of the rectangle by the GE spots and exit at the other end where parents can collect their children. All pupils are required to bring a yoga mat or something similar they can sit/ lie on for floor exercises. For Chris’ classes (Breakout), set up is very similar. All breakout pupils will need to bring a yoga mat or something that is non slip to help with all their floor work. These will be used to also create good spacing between pupils as well.
  4. IndoorClasses - Queuing system, laminated sheets and hand sanitiser as before. Please note with indoor venues families will need to stay 2 metre apart from each other if waiting inside the building. Masks may need to be worn depending on the policy of that particular building. St Margaret’s the queuing system will take place outside. All GE pupils will need to wait for the previous class to exit before entering the dance space.
  5. All pupils and staff do not need to wear masks during class, whether outdoor or indoor. Guidelines and scientific evidence do not encourage wearing masks whilst exercising. We don’t want anyone passing out or becoming very ill.

Covid-19 Tracking System

6) Chris and I have enrolment sheets on our person each week which contains contact information for each pupil. We also will be taking weekly registers as usual. If anyone

reports any Covid symptoms at any time we will be able to work out date/ time and number of people at risk. Classes may need to go back on Zoom in the event of classes closing until quarantine period is over.

Health Hygiene/ Washing of Clothes

7) All equipment used during class will be cleaned after each session (Wed, Fri and Sat)

8) Families are encouraged to wash their child’s uniform/ clothing every week
